Washington:
The Al-Qaida is helping and providing assistance to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in launching terror attacks in India with the objective of provoking a conflict between India and Pakistan, US Defence Secretary Robert Gates said on Thursday.
"Al-Qaida is supportive of Lashkar-e-Toiba.... Al-Qaida is providing them with targeting information and helping them in their plotting in India, clearly with the idea of provoking a conflict between India and Pakistan that would destabilise Pakistan," Gates told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
The LeT is blamed for the Mumbai terror attacks that killed 166 people, including foreigners.
