Islamabad: Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie who had earlier donated US $1 million to relief efforts in flood ravaged Pakistan, arrived in the country on Tuesday to provide some hands-on help.
The Academy award winning actress jetted to Pakistan on a mercy mission for the millions left homeless because of the floods.
The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Goodwill Ambassador flew to Islamabad via London's Heathrow airport to start emergency fund raising for the devastated region.
"Angelina Jolie arrived in Pakistan today to meet people affected by the floods and to highlight the continued urgent need for help," the agency said in a statement.
The 35-year-old will film fresh appeals to raise funds for the victims.
This is the fourth visit by Jolie to Pakistan since she became a UNHCR goodwill ambassador in 2001. Last week, Jolie released a video message appealing for greater public support for Pakistan's relief efforts.
Jolie who raises six children with her partner Brad Pitt had donated US $1 million of her own money to the cause.
In 2005, the couple had visited survivors of an earthquake which devastated parts of northern Pakistan. They travelled aboard a helicopter carrying food, blankets and plastic sheets.
