A truck plowed into a crowd of pilgrims in central Mexico yesterday, killing at least 12 people and injuring 20 others, civil protection and Red Cross officials said.
The truck "was apparently left without brakes and struck the crowd" that was heading to a religious site in the town of Mazapil in Zacatecas state, an official in the state's civil protection agency told AFP.
