Los Angeles, United States : Eight people died and 44 were injured Saturday in the US state of Texas after a charter bus rolled over on the highway, media reported.
The bus, which was traveling near the state's border with Mexico, was headed to a casino hotel in the town of Eagle Pass, according to Webb County Volunteer Fire Department chief Ricardo Rangel, who was cited in the Laredo Morning Times.
Seven people died at the scene while one other died at the hospital, the paper reported, adding that the bus was traveling from the Rio Grande Valley in the state's southernmost tip.
NBC news also reported that the Department of Public Safety said 44 people were injured.
US 83 N., the highway where the accident occurred, had been reopened to traffic, according to the Texas Department of Transportation's Laredo District.
The accident happened some 35 miles (55 kilometers) north of the border city of Laredo around 11:20 am (16:20 GMT), media reported.
