Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has made a startling revelation that the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore in March this year was funded from Sri Lanka.
He claimed this information was given to him by the Sri Lankan PM in Libya.
The Pakistan PM also said that a Pakistani Interior Ministry official will visit Sri Lanka very soon to probe this.
Six members of the Sri Lankan team, including the team coach, were wounded while eight Pakistani nationals were killed in the gun and grenade attack on March 3.
The bus carrying the Sri Lankan team was attacked by a dozen unidentified gunmen some fifty meters away from Gaddafi stadium in Lahore, just ahead of the third day of their second Test match in Pakistan.
After the attacks, the Sri Lankan cricket players were evacuated immediately. A military helicopter airlifted the players to Lahore airport.
Sri Lankan team captain Mahela Jayawardene and player Thilan Samaraweera were injured while escaping the terrorist attack.
