Iraqi authorities say bombings and shooting have killed six people in and around the capital, Baghdad.
Police officials say a roadside bomb exploded near an outdoor market in the town of Youssifiyah on Thursday, killing three people and wounding nine. The town is 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of Baghdad.
Also, a bomb blast near a security checkpoint in northeastern Baghdad killed two soldiers and wounded five people, including three civilians.
In the afternoon, police said a gunmen riding a motorbike opened fire on a group of people walking in the street in the town of Madian, just south of Baghdad, killing one person and wounding four.
Medical officials confirmed the casualty figures. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to media.
