Austrian kidnap victim tells her story

Austrian kidnap victim tells her story
Vienna, Austria: The kidnapping of Natascha Kampusch was a case that shocked not just Austria but the world.

The 10-year-old was kidnapped from a Vienna street on her way to school in 1998 and held captive for eight and a half years.

Now 22 - Natascha has launched her story in a book simply named - 3 thousand and 96 Days.

In it she describes how her abductor - Wolfgang Priklopil - starved her, shaved off her hair, make her do housework naked and shackled her to him.

It was in this tiny dungeon that she lived while held captive.

Natascha also tells of beatings - in one part she says how sometimes the abuse felt like it lasted for hours.

She managed to flee in August 2006 - Priklopil committed suicide within hours of her escape.

Book buyer Tamara Els hopes this autobiography will help her move on with her life.

"I think that her agility and her interest for the world is fascinating - after 3096 days of imprisonment. But I also think that there should be an end to all this someday, this story should not be dragged on until she's an old-aged pensioner, it has to be over at some point," said the book buyer.

The pretty 22-year-old has her future to look forward to but whether she can really put eight and a half years of horrific abuse behind her only she knows.
