Rome:
Six staff members of a hospital in Rome were investigated on Monday after a premature Filipino baby died when he was injected with artificial milk instead of saline solution.
The staff members probed at the San Giovanni hospital included doctors, nurses and auxiliaries.
Italian Health Minister Renato Balduzzi ordered an immediate investigation after the seven-month-old baby boy named Marco received the fatal intravenous injection of milk in June.
Marco died June 29, two days after being injected. He had been transferred to the neonatal unit at San Giovanni from a hospital in the seaside town of Ostia where he was born.
