Dhaka:
Police in Bangladesh say that a speeding bus collided head-on with a minibus outside the capital, killing the driver and 11 passengers of the minibus.
Police official Sakhwat Hossain says that Wednesday's accident took place in the Keraniganj area near Dhaka. He says officers recovered bodies of 10 people at the scene and that two others succumbed to their injuries on the way to a hospital.
Mr Hossain says that most of the victims were from the same family and were heading out of the capital for a holiday.
Fatal road accidents are common in Bangladesh, mainly because of lax traffic rules and poor road conditions. They claim up to 12000 lives per year.
