US President Barack Obama arrives for a G7 summit at the EU Council building in Brussels on Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
Brussels, Belgium:
President Barack Obama has arrived in Brussels for a meeting with fellow heads of state focused on the crisis in Ukraine.
Obama's visit to the Belgian capital is his second stop on a three-country visit to Europe.
Obama originally had planned to attend a meeting of the Group of Eight industrialized countries that would have included Russian President Vladimir Putin.
But the U.S. and other members suspended Russia's G-8 membership earlier this year to retaliate for Putin's military occupation and subsequent takeover of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula. And they moved the meeting from Russia to Belgium.
Obama is scheduled to attend a working G-7 dinner Wednesday night, followed by additional meetings Thursday. He'll also visit Wednesday with Belgium's king and prime minister, and meet with European Union leaders.
