Kabul:
Eight people were killed and 31 injured in a suicide car bomb blast in Kabul on Tuesday.
The explosion occurred in the city's main diplomatic area - across the street from the former vice president's residence, and just one kilometre away from the Indian Embassy. All Indian diplomats and embassy staff are reported safe. The Ambassador is currently in Muscat.
Five Indians were wounded in the blast - two IT workers, a cleaner, a cook and a guard.
The bomber's car went up in flames outside the gate to the Heetal Hotel, owned by former President Rabbani's son. The home of former vice president Ahmad Zia Massoud, brother of late anti-Soviet guerrilla leader Ahmad Shah Massoud, was also heavily damaged.
