Islamabad:
A suicide blast has taken place near Jinnah Supermarket in Pakistan's capital Islamabad. Seven security personnel have been killed in the blast.
Pakistani media reports also say armed attackers have taken refuge in a nearby house.
PTI adds:
The explosion was followed by an exchange of fire between security forces and suspected militants.
Reports said the blast had occurred near a security check post. Several ambulances were seen taking injured persons away from the area.
Panicked shoppers rushed out of the supermarket causing traffic snarls on nearby roads.
Police and security personnel cordoned off the area.
