Blog: A 13-year-old on hurricane Sandy
Delaware: Hurricane Sandy is a powerful Category 1 hurricane that has swept the northeast section of US.

This "Frankenstorm" is pounding New Jersey, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and many more states in the northeast with high winds (85-90mph), heavy rain, power outages, coastal flooding, and storm surge.

I live in Delaware, which is one of the states affected by the hurricane. As I look outside the window, I can barely see the streets, the trees, and homes.

Torrential rain is coming down nonstop and the wind, which is blowing at 70mph, is increasing every hour. My family is prepared for a possible power outage. We have many flashlights and candles, but of course, I don't want the power to go!

My family and I charged our phones just in case for emergencies and we made sure that we didn't use up our battery.

We are not leaving our house unless there is an emergency; I also have no school for the next two days because of the hurricane.

Our TV is constantly on to update us on the hurricane and we are taking necessary precautions from the storm.

Conditions will deteriorate tonight and I can only hope for the best. Stay safe everybody!
