Braslia: The mayor of a small Brazilian town and his wife have been found shot dead, police said on Tuesday, adding that they are still investigating the circumstances of the killings.
The bodies of Daniel Antonio de Sousa and his wife Elizeth Bruno de Barros were discovered at their home in Matrincha, which has a population of just 4,000, in the central state of Goias, a police spokesman said.
"They were murdered with firearms," the spokesman said.
In May, the mayor of Paraty, a tourist destination in Rio de Janeiro state, was slightly wounded in a shooting attack.
