Ashya King, the British boy with brain cancer whose parents removed him from hospital and took him to Spain, can fly to Prague for the cancer treatment his family wants, a London judge ruled on Friday.
"There was a hearing this afternoon and the judge has said he is allowing Ashya to be flown to Prague," said Michael Duncan, a spokesman for the Courts and Tribunals Judiciary in London.
"The court's wardship over him will cease when he arrives at the hospital" in Prague, he added.
It was not immediately clear when the five-year-old boy would be flown to Prague to receive proton beam therapy.
The Proton Therapy Centre in the Czech capital has said it is ready to send a plane to transport him as soon as possible.
Ashya recently underwent surgery for a brain tumour in Southampton, southern England, but his parents removed him from the hospital there after disagreeing with doctors over his treatment.
He could not be moved from hospital in Spain until his status as a ward of court, imposed after his parents were arrested, was lifted.
The ruling was made by High Court Judge Jeremy Baker following a telephone hearing with Ashya's family earlier Friday.
