London:
An 18-year-old university student in Britain fell down a few stairs and died after he drank a whole bottle of rum in 15 minutes during a drinking contest.
Timothy Jarvis, a maths student at the University of Essex, suffered massive head injuries when he drunkenly stumbled down the stairs, according to reports.
Demitris Vachaviolos, a fellow student, told at an inquest that Mr Jarvis died after a drinking bet.
"They had a stopwatch as they drank a bottle of rum. Timothy claimed he could drink one in 30 minutes and did it in 15," he said.
"As we tried to get him into his bed he started chasing me and a couple of girls. I heard the stairwell door open, then a fall and he was lying at the bottom," he said.
