Toronto:
Canadian Police arrested a person after he allegedly tried to drive a car containing "possible dangerous material" close to the G-20 summit area in Toronto.
A 53-year-old man, hailing from Ontario, was arrested at the intersection of Scott Street and The Esplanade in downtown Toronto, police said, adding a crossbow, a chainsaw, a baseball bat and at least three gas cans were seized from the vehicle.
It was the second such arrest in two days, after police on Wednesday arrested a man and a woman in a home close to Toronto, and charged them with possession of explosives.
Police have not revealed the man's name, but a search of the car's licence plate shows the vehicle is registered to a Gary McCullough.
"If an individual comes down into the security zone of G-20 summit and is engaged in protest activity and is carrying things that could be used as a weapon, that matter will be investigated and those items can be removed from that individual in the interests of maintaining a safe environment for everybody," they added.
