Vienna: For the police in Vienna, the investigation in the shooting incident in a gurudwara is turning out to be a real challenge. Not only are they dealing with a community they know very little about, the language barrier is difficult to overcome. And the political identities are very difficult to establish.

"Three of the suspects have sought political asylum They have been in Austria for some time now; the other two have no papers and one of the suspects cannot speak as he is in coma and he too has no papers," said Michael Takacs, spokesperson, Vienna police.

Never before have we seen any incidents related to Indian or other religious groups in Vienna. This is why we were taken by surprise by the gravity of this incident, he added.

Police say the crime scene was like a battle scene where not only gun and daggers but everything from pots and pans, to camera and micro phones were used as weapons. They say the investigation will be long drawn and Austrian law will take its course before the question of Indian intervention comes in.
