A story of how a doctor in China secretly drugged his girlfriend with sleeping tablets and then gave her abortion pills has sparked outrage on social media. According to South China Morning Post, the couple had been in a romantic relationship since November 2021 and the woman surnamed Wang, found out she was pregnant on May 14 this year.
When Wang, 34, excitedly shared the news with her boyfriend, who is a urologist. However, he wasn't happy and told her he did not want marriage or children and tried to persuade her to terminate the pregnancy. When she insisted on keeping the baby, the doctor devised a plan to terminate her pregnancy.
The couple met at a convenience store to discuss the matter, where the doctor bought water and Wang purchased a bottle of Coke. After a few days, Wang received a WeChat call from her boyfriend, who wanted to know whether she had bled yet. He revealed that he put an abortion pill in her Coke. It was then that she realised that her boyfriend had taken her drink out of her hands several times.
A few days later, the couple had dinner together at her flat where she suddenly felt tired and fell asleep. When she woke up, he gave her a drink laced with medication, following which she had an abortion the next evening.
''I was suffering from massive bleeding, so I dared not move,'' Wang said.
Though her boyfriend admitted to drugging her, Wang did not report him to the police after he wrote a letter of apology and asked her to marry him. However, when she realised the promise of marriage was false, she recently called the police to report the incident.
Meanwhile, the story has shocked social media users in China who are calling the woman to run away from him.
''Run away quickly. He gave you abortion pills this time, who knows what he will feed you in the future,'' one user wrote.
Stories about medical malpractice on the mainland frequently go viral on social media.
