Detroit:
A Detroit area father who fatally shot his 15-year-old son after the teen admitted molesting a 3-year-old girl has been sentenced to 37 to 80 years in prison. Jamar Pinkney Sr was convicted April 1 in the Nov 16 death of Jamar Pinkney Jr.
After Thursday's sentencing in Wayne County, defence attorney Corbett Edge O'Meara said 37-year-old Pinkney won't be eligible for parole until 2046. O'Meara said he is disappointed with the sentence and expects Pinkney of Highland Park to appeal.
O'Meara argued the father became enraged after his son's admission and couldn't control himself. Witnesses say he forced the teen to strip, marched him to an empty lot and shot him in the head.
