Virginia:
Usually it's cats that have nine lives - but a Virginia dog can be included in that saying now.
Wrinkles was shot in the head not once but twice. The dog was then dumped into a ditch where it was left to die.
However the dog held on and help came four days later.
"It was just laying there looking up it couldn't move it was basically paralyzed and you just wonder why somebody would do something like that to an animal," said Todd Moser, Chief Warden Animal Control.
Authorities though say the neighbour is now owning up to that and claims he did it because the dog was being aggressive.
Afterwards, it took some work by a veterinarian but Wrinkles eventually made it home where it's still recovering.
"He was determined to get home to us. He fought really hard," said Charlotte Long, Wrinkles' owner.
Animal control officials are still trying to determine whether to charge the neighbour.
