Donald Trump Seeks Top Security Clearance For His Children: Report

Donald Trump's team has asked the White House to check for top security for his children

Washington: US President-elect Donald Trump has sought top security clearance for his three children, according to media reports in Washington, which said it could bring up potential conflicts of interest within the incoming administration.

The Trump team has asked the White House to explore the possibility of getting his children -- Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr and his daughter Ivanka Trump along with her husband Jared Kushner -- the top secret security clearances, CBS news and CNN said.

Logistically, the children would need to be designated by the current White House as national security advisers to their father to receive top secret clearances.

However, once Trump becomes President, he would be able to put in the request himself.

Eric, Donald Jr and Ivanka are currently on presidential transition team. CNN said the top security clearance could be a potential conflict between classified information and their business interest.

The report was strongly refuted by the presidential transition team.

A transition team official said the 70-year-old President-elect "did not request" that this step be taken and the Trump children have "not started filling out paperwork" for such clearances.

"That's not something I'm expecting right now," the transition official said on condition of anonymity.
