Cleveland: In an unconventional move, Donald Trump will appear on the very first night of the Republican National Convention to introduce his wife Melania who is scheduled to deliver a speech to make a strong pitch for her husband before the American public.

Trump Campaign manager Paul Manafort made the announcement in this regard.

Normally the presidential candidate appears and delivers speech only on the last night of the convention after he is officially nominated as the party's candidate.

"Trump will be accompanying his wife...They'll be flying in together. He will introduce her tonight, and she will speak. They will then, after her comments, go back to New York," Manafort told reporters on the first day of the Cleveland Convention here.

Manafort said Trump would officially arrive in Cleveland on Wednesday, a day before he is schedule to deliver his acceptance speech. "He wanted to be here for the speech she is going to give," he said in response to a question.

In a brief biography provided by the Trump Campaign, Melania is described as a businesswoman.

She married Trump in January 2005 and in March 2006 they had their first child, Barron William Trump.

Born on April 26, 1970 in Slovenia, Melania Knauss began her modeling career at the age of sixteen. At the age of eighteen, she signed with a modeling agency in Milan.

After obtaining a degree in design and architecture at University in Slovenia, she was jetting between photo shoots in Paris and Milan before finally settling in New York in 1996.

"Melania is dedicated to helping others, and her generosity has been noted," the campaign said.

In April of 2008, Melania was asked by Love Our Children USA and NASDAQ to participate in the Fifth Annual National Love Our Children Day and the beginning of National Child Abuse Prevention month by ringing the closing bell at NASDAQ.

During the news conference, Manafort did not preview her speech, but did say she would be reflecting on the personal aspect of the Republican presidential candidate.

"You'll have certainly the family and personal aspects presented through Melania Trump and a few people who know him personally who will be talking tonight," he said.

"His wife's speech is the beginning of what I would call the family testimonials that will describe Donald Trump, the man. It is a part we think is historic," Manafort said.
