Victoria, Australia:
Around a dozen homes in the Australian city of Castlemaine were evacuated on Tuesday after police found a large quantity of explosives at a property there, local media reported.
Residents were told to leave their homes as the police bomb squad moved in on the house.
According to local media in Victoria, the bomb squad spent several hours in the house before declaring it safe. They also used a robot to detonate some of the explosives.
Police are reported to have discovered a stockpile of explosives and chemicals.
"We have at this point in time located precursors for explosives and also located explosives and also other paraphernalia," said Jeff Maher of the Victoria State Arson and Explosive Squad.
According to reports, police have charged a 32-year-old man on three counts: for possessing explosives substances, for conduct endangering life, and reckless conduct endangering serious injury.
