Shaanxi, China:
A teenage boy, who was stuck in a wall cavity for ten hours, was finally freed in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after a dramatic three-hour rescue operation by firefighters in northwest China.
When the rescuers arrived at the scene on Tuesday evening in Baoji City, in northwest China's Shaanxi province, they found a 13-year-old boy stuck in the narrow gap between two walls.
Firefighters first attempted to free the dehydrated boy by using chainsaws to cut away at the wall, but after several attempts they had not made any progress.
Rescuers were able to lower a bottle of water to him while they continued their rescue efforts.
Finally, with the help of some local bricklayers, the firefighters managed to demolish approximately three metres (nine feet) of the wall.
The boy was then pulled to safety at approximately 1.10 am local time on Wednesday.
Despite his ordeal, the boy was in surprisingly good health with just a couple of bruises, according to one first aid worker.
