Elon Musk tweeted "Jack off the board" hours after Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey stepped from the board. Musk said that he is a fan of Dorsey and wished that he stayed on the board. "I'm a fan of Jack btw. Wish he would stay on the board, but I understand that he needs to move on," Musk tweeted.
Former Chief Executive Officer Jack Dorsey did not stand for re-election Wednesday, and is no longer a board member, ending his formal relationship with the social network he co-founded in 2006. He has been a director since 2007, and was most recently Twitter CEO from mid-2015 until his resignation last year.
Last month, Twitter accepted Elon Musk's $44 billion takeover deal. Musk currently owns 9.1 per cent stake in Twitter and is the social media company's second-biggest shareholder. Twitter had previously invited Elon Musk to join its board of directors, but the SpaceX head declined.
This is a giant leveraged buyout. Musk has raised $25.5 billion of fully committed debt and margin loan financing from a dozen banks to back the bid.
