Beirut:

Former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri made a rare visit to Lebanon overnight and will make a speech marking the 10th anniversary of his father's assassination today, Lebanese media said.

He will speak at a ceremony dedicated to his father in central Beirut, state news agency NNA and pro-Hariri newspaper al-Mustaqbal said.

His father, Rafik al-Hariri, was killed in a 2005 Beirut waterfront bombing that almost tipped the country into civil war.

Saad al-Hariri, Lebanon's most influential Sunni politician, left the country in 2011 after his government was toppled by a coalition including the Iranian-backed Shi'ite group Hezbollah. He splits his time between Saudi Arabia and France.
