Maulana Fazlullah, the Taliban commander in Pakistan's Swat valley, was "critically injured" on Wednesday in military operations against militants in the country's troubled northwestern region.
Fazlullah, a key aide of Pakistani Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud, was injured in operations in Shahdheri area of Swat, TV news channels reported, quoting official sources.
There was no official word on this and the news could not be independently verified.
Earlier also reports about Fazlullah, also known as 'Mullah FM' for his fiery sermons from his illegal radio station, being injured in military operations had surfaced.
Last week, Interior Minister Rehman Malik had said in an interview to UK based news channel that Fazullah was "seriously" injured in the military operations.
The Pakistani army claims that it has killed over 1,600 militants in the operations that began nearly two months ago.
However, no top Taliban leader was among those killed or captured.
