Fighter Jets Escort Passenger Plane to Manchester Airport in UK

A Qatar Airways Airbus A330 lands in Manchester Airport in northwest England after being escorted by UK RAF Typhoon jet following reports of a device on board.

London: A Qatar Airways plane landed safely at Britain's Manchester Airport after being escorted by the Royal Air Force following a warning of a possible device on board.

The police in a statement said " a full emergency" was declared at the airport.  

"A passenger has been taken off the plane by officers at @manairport. We will work to get others off as swiftly and safely as possible," tweeted Qatar Airways.  

The airline said there were nearly 280 people, including crew, on board the flight from Doha to Manchester.  

"The crew had received a threat about a possible device on board and QatarAirways immediately took all the necessary precautions to alert British authorities," the airline said in a statement
