Final News of the World issue costs 30 Pounds on eBay
London: The "historic" final edition of the News of the World - that was published for the last time on Sunday - now reportedly costs up to 30 pounds on auction site eBay.

The final issue was sold out at newsstands within hours of opening, The Sun reported on Monday.

More than four million copies were sold across the country in a single day - possibly the highest sale in a decade.

The tabloid was shut down by owners News International after a phone hacking scandal.

The final edition with a large Page One headline that said "Thank You & Goodbye" chronicled its famous exclusive stories. It looked back at the criminals it had helped put behind bars and the cheats it had exposed in its 168-year history.

Owner Rupert Murdoch, 80, arrived in London on Sunday from the US to oversee the response to allegations of illegal phone hacking by former News of the World journalists.

At least 12 people, including nine journalists and three policemen, are facing jail over phone hacking and illegal payments to officials.

The tabloid is accused of hacking into phones of crime victims, celebrities and politicians. Police have identified 4,000 possible targets.

In January 2007, royal editor Clive Goodman and private investigator Glenn Mulcaire were both jailed for plotting to intercept voicemail messages.
