Finnish police said on Monday that a foreigner had been detained for war crimes committed in Iraq in the summer of last year.
The man was aged 29, according to local media reports. He appeared before a judge on Monday and has been in detention since then.
Finland's intelligence services and police have sought foreign help in their investigation. They did not divulge the man's nationality.
This is the first war crimes investigation in Finland since 2006.
