New York:

New York City recorded its first swine flu death as a teacher of a local school died after falling ill last week.

Six schools were closed last week, among them was one where assistant principal Mitchell Wiener worked. Five more schools were closed on Monday on swine flu concerns.

Wiener was reported to have fallen sick a week before the school closed on Thursday and was hospitalised when his condition deteriorated.
