Buenos Aires: Flooding from days of torrential rains has forced the evacuation of some 3,000 families in Argentina.
The heavy rains swelled the Paraguay and Parana rivers.
Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich said today that families living in swamped low-lying areas have been evacuated in the provinces of Misiones and Formosa.
The government says President Cristina Fernandez will tour the flood-hit areas this week.
Officials say they've had some relief as rains recently stopped for the first time in a week in the Misiones region along the border with Paraguay and Brazil. But the provincial government will still likely issue a state of emergency.
Neighbouring Paraguay is beginning to receive international aide after the floods forced the evacuation of 300,000 people.
