Flu scare: Guests locked up in Hong Kong hotel
Hong Kong, Beijing: A hotel in Hong Kong -- one of the most advanced cities in the world --- is almost a prison for the 350 guests who've been locked inside for five days. They have been quarantined after a Mexican guest reportedly showed symptoms of flu.

An amateur video shot by a British tourist inside the hotel showed masked guests mingling with each other. And the only thing they were complaining about was boredom.

Their compensation for a bittersweet experience was sent in the form of a box of chocolate for each guest from the health department.

But quarantine measures like this have now fueled a diplomatic row. The Mexican government has denounced some countries for taking "discriminatory measures" against its citizens.

"It seems unfair to me that after we were honest and transparent with the world, some countries or places are taking discriminatory measures because of ignorance and misinformation. The truth is they are discriminatory against Mexicans," said Felipe Calderon, President, Mexico

Felipe's statement has come in the wake of 10 Mexican nationals being quarantined at a Beijing hotel for fear of infecting others with the virus even though none of them had any symptoms. Now Mexico has sent a chartered flight to airlift its citizens quarantined in China.
