Chengdu, Sichuan Province: Heavy fog caused a massive pile-up of 137 vehicles on a highway in southwestern China, injuring nine people.
The seven-kilometre pile-up occurred on Monday on a highway just outside Chengdu, in Sichuan Province, because the visibility was very low.
The accident caused traffic jams that continued for several hours.
Cars landed on top of each other and big cars smashed up small cars. One car was elevated high in the air due to the crash.
According to rescue workers, the situation was very dangerous.
"Some cars flew up in the air, and landed on the top of other cars, some cars back there, and here. It's dangerous back there," said the driver of a rescue truck.
