Beijing:
After being on the run for seven years, a Chinese man surrendered for raping a 13-year-old girl as he could not stand the "torture in his soul", a media report said.
Li Guohua had developed a relationship with his landlord's daughter around seven years back. He was 19-years-old at the time.
Police were informed after they were found together following which Li fled.
In China, sex with a girl younger than 14 years is deemed to be rape.
Shanghai Daily reported that while he was on the run, Li got married and had a daughter.
Li told his wife Wang about his past and her parents told their daughter to leave him.
Wang left Li and their daughter.
Li admitted that he felt worried over how his daughter would view him when she comes to know of his past. He shared this concern with his mother, who asked him to face his past.
Li then surrendered to police in Shanghai.
