Washington: University of Florida football player Deiondre Porter was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly held a gun to the head of his pregnant girlfriend, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
According to the Alchua County clerk's office, the 19-year-old freshman is facing four felony charges, including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon without the intention to kill, one count of aggravated battery and one count of firing a weapon into a vehicle or building. Porter is also facing a misdemeanor charge of damaging property.
He is currently being held at the Alchua County Jail on a $160,000 bond.
"He's no longer with the football team," Coach Jim McElwain said (via Associated Press) on the SEC Conference coaches call. "He's suspended indefinitely for obviously a choice. It's his choice not to be with us. I'm sure you'll read about it soon enough. It's one of those things that we don't obviously condone. Like I said, it was his choice."
Porter's girlfriend, who was 10 weeks pregnant at the time, a fact the report claims Porter knew about, denied the allegations. Porter did not believe her, however, and according to the report he then pointed a gun at her head and asked her again.
