Islamabad: Forced marriages of their women and security issues have emerged as major concerns for Pakistani Hindus, according to a body formed by Asif Ali Zardari.
Its head Maula Bux Chandio, however, said the issue was not as serious as was being portrayed in the media. But he acknowledged that Hindus suffered from a sense of deprivation, Geo News reported.
In 2011, a total of 7,000 Pakistanis visited India. Between 1,100-1,200 did not return, he was quoted as saying.
"Reports of Hindus not being protected are negative for the image of the country," Mr Chandio added.
On Monday, a fresh batch of Pakistani Hindus reached India. Many of them said they will not return to Pakistan given the atmosphere of fear in the areas where they live.
