Four Mexican Fishermen Rescued After Boat Sinks

South Padre Island, Texas: Four fishermen from Mexico have been rescued after their boat sank in the Gulf of Mexico about 22 miles from South Padre Island, Texas.

U.S. Coast Guard officials in Corpus Christi on Thursday reported the men are in good condition following the rescue also involving a Mexican shrimper. Lt. Eric Vryheid (VRY'-hyd) says the four fishermen did not have life preservers.

A tanker crew on Wednesday night reported seeing two men clinging to a capsized Mexican fishing vessel. The Coast Guard located them about 20 minutes later and dropped a life raft. The pair reported two other crewmembers missing.

Shortly before midnight Wednesday the crew of a Mexican shrimper reported hearing cries for help and rescued the other two men, who apparently were in the water for about 15 hours.
