Four Taliban militants killed in US drone attack

Peshawar: A US drone struck a vehicle in the restive North Waziristan tribal region of northwest Pakistan today, killing at least four militants, security officials said.

The unmanned spy plane fired two missiles at the vehicle in Naurak village, located 15-km from Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan Agency.

The region is considered the hub of the Haqqani network and other Taliban elements that target US and allied forces across the border in Afghanistan.

The dead were suspected Taliban militants, officials said. The vehicle was destroyed.

Over 200 people have died in more than 40 drone strikes since September.

Today's attack came three days after a similar strike killed 20 militants near Miranshah.
