German injured during stunt on Live TV is in coma
Berlin: A 23-year-old German who was injured during a Live TV show while performing a stunt was slowly being brought out of coma and was in a stable condition, according to doctors of the Dusseldorf University Clinic.

Samuel Koch was trying to catapult himself into a somersault over a car driven by his father in a popular german TV show - called "Wetten dass?" (Read: Dangerous stunt goes wrong on Live TV)

He had to land on his feet but instead ended up face-down and motionless, shocking the live audience of 4,000 and the millions of viewers at home.

Koch was wearing shoes that were meant to help him jump like a kangaroo during the stunt.

Before the accident, Koch had successfully jumped over two cars. He had failed on a third try, but had not been injured.

Though Koch was wearing a helmet during the stunt, video of the accident shows his body going limp in the air. Then he lands on his stomach without any attempt to brace himself from the fall.

Koch had pitched the stunt himself and had tried it hundreds of times without trouble until Saturday night's taping.

He suffered multiple back injuries, fractures and several blood clots near his brain and was taken to the University Hospital in Dusseldorf, where he underwent a surgery minutes after getting admitted.

It is not yet known if he will be paralyzed from his injuries.

After the incident, the show was immediately stopped and the programme's co-host Thomas Gottschalk said it had been a "horrible experience".

Some eight million viewers were watching the programme at the time of the accident.
