New Delhi: The inventor of saxophone, Antoine-Joseph "Adolf" Sax was born on November 6, 1814, in Dinant, Belgium. He died on February 7, 1894 at the age of 79 in Paris, France.
Born in a family of instrument designers, Adolphe Sax was a musical instrument designer and a musician. He played the flute and clarinet. He had a deep understanding of brass and woodwinds and made several changes to the design of the horn.
To pay tribute to his great musical talent, google today dedicated five variations of its doodle to him celebrating his 201st birth anniversary.
The background of the doodle has various shades of brass; again signifying the various shades of the instruments Mr Sax invented. The background also mimics the plates and engraving typically found on instruments of that era. Google is written across the doodle, merging with the background.
In its first doodle we see Mr Sax playing a Saxtuba standing on the extreme left corner. The Saxtuba merges with the G of Google.
In the second variant we see him playing Alto Sax in front of the second O of the logo Google.
In the third doodle we see Mr Sax playing a 7-Bell Trombone in front of the second G of Google sitting on a stool.
Forth form of the doodle showcases him playing the Soprano Sax on his knees in front of L.
Finally the last variant of the doodle shows a Googlehorn, a new frictional musical instrument created by Google team inspired by Adolphe Sax.
On clicking on the doodle you are directed to the Google search page listing all the pages related to Mr Sax.
