Granny who planned to be a drug dealer

Wellington: A 54-year-old New Zealand grandmother on welfare benefits was caught with a suitcase full of crystal methamphetamine and other drugs which she planned to deal from her state house in Wellington, police told a court.

The 220 grams of the drug, known as P in New Zealand, was the biggest seizure in Wellington police history, The Dominion Post newspaper reported on Friday.

Susan Florence Horrobin, who pleaded guilty on Thursday to possessing methamphetamine, LSD and mephedrone, which police said was commonly sold as a replacement for ecstasy, could be jailed for life when she is sentenced next month.

Police said Horrobin was arrested as she picked up the suitcase at Wellington airport August 31 after flying to Auckland where she was observed buying the drugs from a man in a hotel car park.
