Bali, age unknown, weighs 88 kilos. At 22-feet-long she is a big python. Those figures are from four days ago, when Bali was brought out for an annual ritual - clean cage, measure and weigh Bali, put her right back in.

Orangutans in the neighborhood watched keenly as seven keepers carried the reticulated python out of her enclosure at UK's Chester Zoo.

"Obviously you make sure that your limbs are clear of that mouth, there is a lot of very sharp teeth in that mouth, it's not the strength of the jaws, it's the number of sharp teeth," Richard Gibson, Curator of lower Vertebrates and Invertebrates at Chester Zoo, told Sky News.

Pythons are believed to be the longest snakes in the world. "The last time we measured her we did a bit of ground work to see if anyone else had a snake of that sort of size. No-one seems to have anything larger so it is quite likely she is the largest in the country, maybe even Europe," Gibson said.

Chester Zoo said they were pleased with the snake's check-up. Bali has been at the Zoo since 2007.
