Hillary Clinton Holds Narrow 4-Point Lead Over Donald Trump In New Poll
The poll found that Hillary Clinton has 47 per cent support to Donald Trump's 43.
Washington: Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton leads her Republican rival Donald Trump by just four points, a new national poll said today.

The Washington Post-ABC News in its latest poll said that 68-year-old Clinton has the support of 47 per cent of the likely voters against 70-year-old Trump's 43 per cent.

The poll said it is "a slight edge" given survey's four percentage-point error margin.

The poll of 740 likely voters was conducted in the week after the surfacing of videos and audios in which Trump is seen making lewd comments about women.

Other recent surveys had suggested that Clinton has 10 percentage point lead over Trump.

"The findings are somewhat better for Trump than other polls taken since the video, but if Clinton were to maintain such an advantage until Election Day, that could translate into a sizable electoral college majority," The Washington Post said.

"Supporters of both candidates are locked in, with 88 per cent of Trump supporters and 89 per cent of Clinton backers saying they will 'definitely' support their current preference. The survey also underscored the hardening of the lines between those supporting Trump and those who are not," it said.

As per RealClearPolitics, which keeps track of all major polls, Clinton leads Trump by 5.5 percentage points in an average of these polls.
