Hostage crisis ends at BMW France office

Paris: Police say authorities have subdued and taken into custody an armed employee of BMW France who allegedly took hostages at the German automaker's offices in southwest Paris.

A police official says an elite anti-crime brigade in Montigny-le-Bretonneux helped free three hostages at the site.

The alleged assailant, aged in his 50s, is said to have fired at least two shots in the office lobby. No one was injured.

The man was taken into custody a little more than two hours after police were notified today afternoon.

The police official spoke only on condition of anonymity about the incident today in keeping with his office's rules. Further details were not immediately available. No one answered calls by The Associated Press to the BMW France office.
