How Nitin Garg was killed in Melbourne

How Nitin Garg was killed in Melbourne
Melbourne: Scrambling hard for a breakthrough in the murder case of 21-year old Indian youth Nitin Garg, Australian police said on Saturday that they will reconstruct the final moments of his life in a bid to catch the killer.

Victorian Police's Homicide squad detectives plan to return to Yarraville in Melbourne's west to retrace Garg's last steps before he was fatally stabbed on January 2, according to 'The Age'.

Garg, the first victim of a slew of attacks on Indians this year, was killed by unidentified assailants while he was walking towards a restaurant, where he worked part-time.

"We have been dedicated to this case," Detective Senior Sergeant David Snare said in a statement. "This is just another step in the investigation and we will continue to heavily focus our efforts" he said.

An information caravan is expected to be set up shortly on Somerville Road to assist anyone with information about the stabbing to come forward. Then, a man dressed as Garg will walk from the Yarraville Railway Station and cut across CJ Cruickshank Park along a metre-wide dirt path on the eastern side of the park to the Hungry Jack's restaurant.

Police said earlier this month said they had no evidence to suggest the murder was racially motivated. "Someone in the community knows who has committed this horrendous crime," Detective Snare said.
