Melbourne:
A former art teacher in Australia has been jailed for possessing over 200,000 child porn images. The accused told the court he was collecting them for a thesis.
Richard Ufnalski, 66, was found guilty by a Melbourne court of possessing around 215,000 images that depicted children in sexually explicit situations.
His claims that he collected the images for a thesis failed to convince the judge who jailed him for two years, the Australian Associated Press (AAP) reported.
Ufnalski told the court his thesis explored the idea that "adult pornography models are groomed to demonstrate fantasies and erotic behaviour".
But the judge dismissed his statement, saying: "I do not accept your explanation for your conduct, which was this possession was for artistic, scientific or educative purposes."
Police found the porn when they arrested him in 2007 on charges of indecent assault against a 15-year-old boy.
