New York: Indian-Americans are overwhelmingly supporting Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton for president and feel she would be a better leader for furthering India-US relations, according to a survey.

The national online survey of Indian-Americans by Massachusetts-based media publication IndUS Business Journal and its sister publication INDIA New England News found that 79.43 per cent of Indian-Americans would vote for Clinton if elections were held today while 14.89 per cent would vote for Republican candidate Donald Trump.

The publication, focused on Indian-American and South Asian entrepreneurs and businesses, conducted the survey during October 21-26 after the third and final presidential debate.

On who would be good for India, 72.46 per cent responded Ms Clinton while 18.12 per cent said Mr Trump.

It said the Indian-American community viewed economy, job creation, healthcare, immigration, integrity, credibility and ethics as the most important campaign issue of the 2016 presidential election.

The participants who supported Mr Trump in the poll cited his policies to combat terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism, the publication said.
