New York: A 35-year-old Indian doctor has been arrested on charges of attempted child molestation in the US state of Tennessee.
Vikul Patel, a doctor of internal medicine, was arrested without incident on September 2 in Georgia by the FBI-led Safe Child Task Force agents and officers after he traveled there to meet a minor child for purposes of having sex, acting Special Agent in Charge Ricky Maxwell said in a statement.
Patel, of Chattanooga, came to the attention of law enforcement when he began a series of "chats" over the internet with undercover agents regarding his desire to have sex with a minor child.
Patel was detained at the Walker County Detention Center on state charges of attempted child molestation and violation of the Computer Pornography Act.
He has been released on bond, according to Walker County Detention Center officials.
